Disability Benefits

Disability Rights Wisconsin (DRW) has a contract with the Department of Health Services (DHS) to provide technical assistance, support, and training for Wisconsin’s Disability Benefit Specialists (DBS’s).  Disability Benefits Specialist services are available through the network of Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRC’s).   Their job is to help people with disabilities understand and access mostly public but also some private benefits, including Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, and other health insurance.   If you need assistance, you should contact your local ADRC.

How We Help

DRW provides technical assistance, support and training for the Disability Benefit Specialists (DBSs) at Aging and Disability Resource Centers.  This support ensures that the DBSs can best help individuals with disabilities receive the benefits to which they are entitled.

  • Basic, ongoing, and advanced benefits training
  • Technical assistance and consultation on complex benefits matters, and
  • Support for DBS Program representation of clients, primarily in administrative hearings.

Eligibility

Disability Benefits Specialists assist people between the age of 18-59 who have a disability. If you are looking for help with benefits, you should contact your local Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC).  You can find your county’s ADRC here.
