Action is needed now for Social Security Beneficiaries with dependents who do not file tax returns in order to receive $500 per eligible child payment with their Economic Impact Payments through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act).
Title II and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will start receiving economic impact payments soon. Individuals with eligible dependents can receive an additional $500 per eligible child. Title II and SSI beneficiaries who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes AND have qualifying dependent children under age 17 must take action now to obtain this additional $500. These individuals should not wait for their payment, but instead, should immediately go to the IRS website and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here page. Title II beneficiaries, including those receiving Social Security Disability, need to do this by noon on April 22 in order to get the additional payments for their dependents. SSI recipients need to do this at a date to be announced later this month. If action is not taken soon, these individuals may need to wait to file their 2020 taxes return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible dependent child.
