Disability Rights Wisconsin is searching for an experienced and knowledgeable attorney with experience in disability rights, civil rights law, and public interest advocacy for our open Director of Legal and Advocacy Services position. The Director is a key leader for our legal and individual advocacy work.
About the Position
The Director of Legal and Advocacy Services leads Disability Rights Wisconsin’s legal and individual advocacy work as part of the Leadership Team. They are responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing policies and practices that guide our work.
As part of their position, the Director will:
- supervise Managing Attorneys in our different legal and advocacy programs, such as:
- Protection and Advocacy.
- the Disability Benefits Specialists Program.
- the Family Care and IRIS Ombudsman Program.
- the SSI-Managed Care Program, and Victim Advocacy.
- Victim Advocacy for People with Disabilities.
- provide strategic direction, supervision, and mentorship to support our litigation and advocacy work.
- make sure that our attorneys and advocates have the knowledge and skills needed to advise and represent our clients with disabilities.
- oversee compliance with applicable federal and state laws, ethical standards, and grant deliverables.
Position Information
Full-Time Equivalent: 1.0 FTE (40 Hours per week)
Rate: $124,000 to $142,000 annually.
Location: DRW has offices in Milwaukee and Madison. This position can be assigned to any of these office locations, depending on the applicant’s residence. This position is not eligible for fully remote work. DRW has a hybrid work policy.
